“The sustained stretches of yoga where you hold a posture for several minutes (as you do in many yoga styles) give the muscles a chance to calm down. The muscles have to relax first, and then the fascia starts to stretch and release. And that can facilitate the kind of repatterning that leads to lasting release of chronic holdings and, in many cases, a profound change of mind and body.” - Tom Myers
Deep stretch starts with an exploration of our neural facial system and ways to approach the body as a whole. You will learn how to activate and inhibit muscles, use your diaphragm and breathe in a way to regulate your parasympathetic nervous system.
In this workshop you can expect to create some space not only in your entire body but in your mind as well. Be prepared to hold poses to get beyond the sensational release of the muscles and work the greater facial webbing. This class is for people who feel trapped in their bodies and desire to learn an approach to undo some accumulated postural muscular patterns.
